Import goods arriving and exported by air were all along being cleared at the Custom House, Mumbai; the goods being transported in sealed trucks. In 1977, an Air Cargo Complex ACC) was set up at Sahar to provide the facility under one roof. Initially, it was part of the Commissionerate looking after passenger clearance too but in 1977, A.C.C. was set up as a separate Commissionerate.

  1. Air Cargo Complex, Sahar, Mumbai is the largest Air Cargo Complex in India.
     

  2. The 2 (Two) Custodians i.e. Airport Authority of India & Air India are handling the cargo arrived at Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai.
     

  3. Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai, has state of the Art Perishable Shed for Exports set up by APEDA.
     

  4. About 45% Import documents and 30% of Export documents of Mumbai Zone I, II & III taken together are processed at Air Cargo Complex.
